Last winter I randomly moved the red velvet sofa that lived in the kids playroom into the library. I wanted more seating for a party, and that seemed like a good, temporary option. I ended up loving the look I’m a sucker for reds and so the bright red has been popping off the burgundy shelves for the year. The kids didn’t seem to mind too much, but once in a while they would mention that they wanted their couch back. With no sofa, the playroom has really been a place for play. The kids do all kinds of things in there, from barbies to baseball, coloring to gymnastics. No comfortable seating has meant virtually no TV watching all summer long. Well, fast forward to this week. The playroom has seen the destruction of a long summer, and I’ve lived the day-to-day of my kids being together too much. Ha. It was time for a major clean up of the playroom and for the sofa to return to it’s original home.
This last week has had moments of glorious peace as my kids veg out and I get some much needed to do’s done without having to break up World War III or nag at them to pick up their messes. With just a few weeks of summer left, I’d say it’s a welcome change.
As for the library, I felt ok moving the sofa out because I had something in mind to take up the space…
I haven’t shared this on the blog yet, but I found the most amazing game table before Christmas via my friend, Flea Market Fab. Jenn was at her friend’s store and when she shared this table on Instagram Stories, I knew it had to be mine. Aaron was so wonderful to work with and the table got to me really quickly. I’ve always wanted a grand entry with a parlor table, but our entry is really small. This area just off the entry allows me to have that feel! I love that I still get that pop of red too.

I’ve read your blog for a long time but never commented on any posts (despite loving them all!). I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that you’ve been blogging so much lately! It’s so nice to check my inbox and have a new post. Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us! xx

Oh, I love hearing that Stephanie! Honestly, I’m in a season that’s kind of tough for alone time right now and blogging has had to take a back seat because of that. I appreciate you sticking with me! And love the feedback, thank you. Hopefully as my kids get a little older I can do even more!

Can you please share what the paint color is for your walls in the last picture (behind the beautiful mirror)?! Thank you 🙂

Congratulations on your post on Domino. You should give it more of a stage. I actually thought it said you did a live feed on your daughter, Domino, and figured I would look…lol. It wasn’t your fault, just quick reading but in my defense, the highlighted part said “Domino that is live today.” Domino Magazine….That’s a big deal.!!

Is that floor lamp in the playroom the Rejuvenation Cypress? I have been admiring that one for years, and am working towards incorporating it into our living room.
Your library is an inspiration for me – we have a big, front living room that’s been empty for two years (since moving in), and recently I caught something on a blog that stated you should design a room for how you’ll use it, not necessarily for what it “is”. We already have a family room with lots of seating/TV, so I’m thinking I’ll make the front living room a sort of library/desk room, with built-in bookcases and a desk. (I currently sit at the desk and use the family computer in my husband’s “mancave”.) Our living room has the best views of our 1 acre landscape, so it’s a shame to not use it – we’ll get there though! We’ve done a TON of renovating at our house (and dealt with a post-reno flood too, unfortunately), and I’m taking my time with the design. My husband wants it all “done now”, but I love the process…and I told him the sooner I feel the house is “finished”, the sooner we’re moving, haha.
