My name is Gwen, and I am The Makerista.

I’m a modern traditionalist who isn’t afraid of color. From a young age I have always had a strong desire to ‘make.’ It began with making music at the age of three and evolved into a jewelry company in college, a stint in the New York fashion industry, a career planning parties and marketing products, all culminating toward the opportunity to make a home for my family and capture the moments we make here.

I’ve been married to my husband, Micah, since 2008, and we have three kids: Xander, Milly, and Domino. We’ve been renovating our 1988 colonial home outside of Kansas City since 2015. Micah is a commercial contractor by day and makes my visions come to life at night. We typically tackle our home room-by-room and partner with brands that we believe in and products we love.

Along with design, I am an amateur gardener who finds joy and peace digging in the dirt. I’ve been thrifting for clothes since high school but started thrifting home goods when I became a stay-at-home mom and never looked back. I love the thrill of finding a unique, quality piece at a bargain and saving treasures!
