I can hardly believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! I just put the final touches on the last tree last night. Want to see what holiday cheer we’re enjoying this year?
Never one to do the same thing twice, I envisioned two trees flanking the dining room buffet this year. I found this pair and the ornaments at At Home the tree is C22 and then made the bows out of this ribbon. You can see a how-to for the bows in my Instagram story highlights. I love the pop of color and how the candles tie in. The garland on the table is from here. It looks so real!
The kids always decorate this tree with Micah and my old ornaments and their own favorites. I got this tree several years ago, but this appears to be the same one. This is clearly a real life, untouched shot of the playroom. As an OCD, design-obsessed blogger, I feel like giving the kids this tree to do what they want with the tree has white and colored lights – I always turn on the white and Milly changes it the minute she walks in will hopefully keep them from talking about me too much during counseling sessions as adults, ha!
I added some pops of red, greenery, and sparkle to the living room. Antique silver bells make a pretty sound every time the kids go in and out of the playroom. That jeweled mantle scarf from Frontgate is something I’m sure my girls will fight over when I’m gone.
The big tree just feels really grand. It’s tall, 9 feet, and wide. The ribbon circling it is warm and welcoming. The tree and most of the ornaments are from Lowe’s a few years ago you can see it decorated in the past here and here, and I snagged the ribbon at Michaels. It’s not the most inexpensive thing, seeing I needed 9 rolls of it, but at 60% off it was doable.
There are no presents yet, because I figure a 2-year-old and puppy would make my wrapping a waste of time. We’re all counting down the days over here I’m so tired of moving elves! Are you ready?
See other family Christmas’ here.

the mantle scarf is stunning. Discontinued, but I found a link to the old product listing: https://www.frontgate.com/crystal-mantel-scarf/810531

I so wish that mantle scarf was still available. Your house looks beautiful and I love the tree in the library.
P.S. I’m a log time lurker and this is probably the second time I’ve commented. =)

I love the red ribbon garland….I’ve never see that before. It must have taken a lot of patience to get that just right!

Thank you! It was fun, I love getting creative like that. Compared to bathroom renos it’s a breeze, ha!

Your trees are gorgeous! Out of curiosity, why don’t any of them have toppers (angel, star, etc.)?
[email protected] says
Thanks! It’s a good question. The kids tree actually has a paper angel on it that my late grandmother drew for me when I was little. It’s funny, while a traditionalist, I don’t always like to go with the norm. I’ve had toppers in the past, but sometimes I don’t…I just do what feels right to me at the time. 🙂

Beautiful! We only have the one tree here and that’s more than enough (I am the Grinch of the family, my rules are, no Christmas music or decorations in the house until the first of December and we do one tree, the mantle and a couple deco here and there and the front porch. Simple and elegant (never tacky) is my motto. And my husband and I are both very against the elf thing. However the boys get to experience that (horrible) new tradition at their mom’s (I am the step parent) as she goes all out with 3 trees in the house and the elf thing. We also have the switch for the lights in our tree (either white lights or multi-coloured). Dad and I always turn on the whites and the kids switch it to multi-coloured as soon as they step foot in the room 😉 I always declare the colour war season open every year once the tree is up.

We definitely battle over the colors too. 😉

I took the tour via my phone but wanted to come back on via my laptop to leave a comment. It’s absolutely beautiful! I don’t think I’ve ever noticed your library chandelier before but it is STUNNING!

This is our favorite time of year for reading home decor blogs like yours! There are SO many ways to do holiday decorations and everyone adds there own personality to it….that’s what makes it so special!
Love your night shots, and love your choice of blue for the bows and candles. And the white tree…there’s just something about that…it’s a winter tree, maybe you should leave it up until Spring??

Thank you so much, yes, I love to see how everyone brings their own spin to the season! Happy New Year!

Gwen everything you do is stylish perfection and this is no exception! Do you have a source for the 3D starburst ornaments on your tree? I cannot tell you how long I have been searching for ornaments like that.

I got them at Lowe’s a few years ago, but I know Crate and Barrel had some this year too…if there’s any left I’m sure they’d be very reasonable at this point! Good luck!
