You all know I love Halloween. This time of year it’s typically all I can talk about! But you want to know something strange? I haven’t hung one cobweb, draped fabric over a single piece of furniture, or corralled any bones! It’s crazy! I ended up having a little get together two weeks ago and had told myself I’d start after that. Because I landed on Nancy Drew for this year’s official Halloween shoot there was no decorating required. And then I got an email last week from an ad agency wanting to use our house for a campaign. I love sharing our home with others, and sometimes getting to watch someone else be creative with it is a nice break. It also allows me to see things about our home in fresh, new ways. I said yes but that pushed the decor back even further.
I’m definitely ready to start, and this weekend I’ll have that chance. But for now I thought I’d share a fun set up Laura and I did this summer for At Home. Shooting Halloween in late July is definitely a bit strange. People usually think of black and orange as Halloween colors, sometimes with some purple and lime green thrown in, but I like to buck that system when I can or put a new spin on it. We worked with the colors in the library to create a palette that is fresh, chic, yet still a little frightful.

I am absolutely in love with the composer drawings above the piano! Did you create those yourself?

Thanks! They were given to me by an Instagram friend, aren’t they incredible? I have looked for the artist with no luck, they’re so special to me.

This room is so perfectly moody for Halloween decor. I’m in love with the deep berry tones. Someday I hope to have a library room!
