Milly’s birthday is next week, and for the first time I haven’t had a party planned out for months. In the past we’ve had her celebration with her cousin, who is 2 days older, the strawberry party here and here, and the swan party and I spent a lot of time and craftiness on her first birthday. But this year we decided to do them separate and keep it a bit more casual. She wanted a pool party. A “girls only” pool party. So I figured we’d just get some popsicles her current favorite treat and have some girls over. But then I started looking for inspiration. I shouldn’t have done that…
Some Otter Pops from Walmart just don’t have the same effect, now do they? So I’m trying to figure out how to make the afternoon a bit prettier and more personal. There are wonderful ice cream and snow cone shops in Kansas City, but not any gourmet popsicle places. I had thought about getting some Mexican popsicles from Tropicana Paleterias, but I think I can make something a bit prettier myself. If I place an Amazon order in the next day or two I’ll be attempting to create some tasty treats. Early or late start, I just can’t seem to avoid the chance to make it our own.
Any great popsicle recipes out there?

I bought a Zoku at TJMaxx a couple of years ago and love it. You can only do about two batches before it needs another deep freeze, but your juice/smoothie becomes a popsicle in just a few minutes. Their blog has a lot of good ideas. http://www.zokuhome.com/blogs/news/tagged/pops

Sounds like a super fun party! While I favor the more fruity popsicles, my kids love frozen hot chocolate popsicles. They are basically just that….make your favourite hot chocolate recipe….let cool…then poor into popsicle molds. I don’t have any fancy fruity popsicle recipes but good old fashioned juice makes a refreshing and super easy one. Maybe puree some fruit and mix with yogurt? Have fun with it!

Yum! I just made some Prosecco pops and shared them on the blog, but that’s definitely for the adults 🙂 Those chia pops sound so yummy!
