I still can’t believe Christmas is just a few short days away. I’m excited for the day but a little sad because I know it comes and goes so quickly. I’ve always found the build up to be the most enjoyable part.
We’re still trying to tie up loose ends around here, like grabbing a few more stocking stuffers and mailing out the last of the Christmas cards.
I really enjoy designing cards myself, but Christmas is already a busy season and last year I never got around to cards at all. When Tiny Prints approached me to create some projects (here + here) with them, I jumped at the chance and the opportunity to order some cards. I was really impressed with the ease of ordering, quick delivery, and great quality. All that was left for me to do was my favorite part: hand addressing (they’ll even address and mail the cards for you if you would like).
I plan to take next week off to focus on my family and some holiday traditions. If you live in the Kansas City area and are looking for something to do on Christmas Eve, I’ll be singing at this:
There will be something for everyone: classics, more contemporary music and even some country. And I hear there will be homemade cookies for all – the stuff that really matters! In all seriousness, I get to sing with some INCREDIBLE musicians, and I am really honored to be a part of this night.
I hope you have a Christmas filled with loved ones and many blessings.
*This is not a sponsored post. I did receive these cards from Tiny Prints, but I am only sharing them with you because I genuinely love them!

As a new reader and fellow Kansas Citian, I want to commend you for your impeccable taste and your down to earth candor. I was hoping sometime soon you could do a post on some of your favorite local sources for thrifting, fabrics, furniture, etc. It's always great to get a few more places to poke around for a great deal

Thanks so much! I appreciate you reading and your kind words. I will definitely add it to my list, but really with 2 small kids I don't get out much anymore. I used to go to the Home Fabrics and Rugs at 119th and Metcalf a few times a year, but that closed in October. 🙁 I frequent my local thrift stores a lot and when I have time and some extra cash I make a trip to the Nell Hills in Briarcliffe. I also look for good deals at Homegoods and Target. I'm not sure where in KC you live, but Brass Armadillo is a 5 minute drive for me, and I like to browse there when I have some time to myself! Merry Christmas!

thanks for the tips! I'm in Overland Park on the Johnson County side. I haven't heard of the Brass Armadillo before, I'll have to check it out! Have you heard about Urban Mining Homewares? They're only open the first weekend of the month from Thurs-Sun and they have extremely well curated and culled treasures for surprisingly good prices. I collect statues and busts and many of my favorites have come from there. http://www.urbanminingvintage.com/

I haven't! Is that down in the West Bottoms? I love the stores that are open there the first weekend of the month, but haven't been in about a year and a half. It's not the most convenient shopping with little kids. :/ I have always had an affinity for busts and statues…my parents have several – Einstein, Beethoven, Chopin to name a few – and I really love them! I'll have to check it out! Thanks so much!

Urban Mining is on 39th street, east of Main (just north of Westport). My favorite find was a 2.5 ft tall gold-painted Beethoven bust that I snagged for $30 and he's been glowering at us ever since. My husband and I went to the Brass Armadillo today and it was really something. I don't think I have the stamina to go very often but we found some great items. My husband is most excited for his Ghostbusters comic that he found. The whole time we were there we were joking around that we may run into you and that I needed to "be cool" and not bug you for an autograph or something

Oh, wow! What a great find! I will definitely have to check that place out sometime. Glad you made the trip out! Yes, it's kind of overwhelming and I usually end up with a headache from the back and forth, up and down looking. 🙂
I would have loved to have ran into you! It seems so rare to get an hour or two to myself where I don't have anything else I need to do and can pop in there. I'm glad you found some great things and thanks for sharing. Have a lovely weekend!
