Yesterday I walked you through the process of painting the fireplace and today I want to show you the final result.
I can’t believe the impact a little paint has made. All of a sudden the fireplace has a presence and the room has a focal point. The art is an oil painting I saw at a flea market last year. Every time I’d go back it was still there. I made several offers, but the lady wouldn’t budge. I finally decided it was worth the extra money I didn’t want to spend and when I brought it home it was a perfect fit. That moody beauty was meant to be. Most of the other things in the room are just placeholders for now one day I’ll get my marble, but I’ve got curtains on order, furniture at the upholsterers and projects up my sleeve. Happy weekend friends!

I love it! You made an odd placed fireplace really shine. I kind of want to paint that paned glass door next to it black now, too. (I'll help!) 😉

It looks awesome!! I'm glad you went with your gut and covered the wood that you didn't like! Remind me, are you guys keeping the wood in the rest of the room?

We're planning to at this point. I know I would love it painted, but I worry I wouldn't love it forever. So for now I'll do what I can to modernize the oak and see how it ends up. 🙂

I was just thinking the paned door would look awesome painted out as well. Also love your sofa 🙂

Thanks, Amanda! I know the door is bothering a bunch of people, but I worry that painting it will not let the fireplace stand out like it does now. I think with the other elements in the space it won't be as strong. Plus, it's usually open anyway. 🙂

The paint gave it the perfect punctuation. Now it really reads like a statement part of the room and not just more of the wood. Great idea and beautifully done!

I love the painted look! It elevated the rest of the wood in the living room. The change in grain over the fireplace made the paneling look a little cheap before. Now it's chic and looks like a million bucks! Love your vision. Huge improvement!!!

Your fireplaces is so eye-catching and stunning. It is really cool how the fireplace material is offset from the rest of the wood motif in the room. Additionally, I have always liked the look of the glass doors that where they are screwed into the framing.

Hi there – what colour and brand of paint is this? You’ve inspired me to do the same with mine.

It’s Benjamin Moore’s Black Beauty. Wonderful, good luck!
