With no fancy holiday parties or events to go to this year (our nutcracker tradition is my favorite!) I decided that dressing up doesn’t just have to be for leaving the house. I saw this dress on the sale rack at a local department store and loved the bow detail and cherry red color. Instead of dismissing it because it’s not practical in the middle of a pandemic, I embraced my affections for it. The tabletop tree is the top of a spruce, decked with thrifted ornaments. The papier-mâché striped basket was a thrift find I just couldn’t resist. And I love Christmas plants placed in silver bowls and buckets – making grocery stores greens feel super elevated.

Oh, Gwen, such a beautiful picture of you in the red dress with the glass of chanpagne. Have someone take the same pose but without the glass of vino and have it framed. Ten years from now you’ll look at the picture and wonder why the glass of bubbly shared the spot with you. It distracts from all that’s beautiful about the picture.
I love seeing pictures of your home and wish you posted more frequently, but three kids can keep a mom very busy.Enjoy Christmas even though things will be very different this year.
