Remember how I planted a cutting garden late spring on the side of the house? The only full plants I put in the ground were some peonies and foxglove, but rather quickly some of the bulbs and tubers started coming up. It was exciting to see new growth every day. But after a few weeks there were still a lot of seeds and bulbs that never made their way through the surface. Bad seeds I didn’t get them from a great source or the exceptionally wet spring, I’m not sure why they didn’t grow, but I ended up heading to my local nursery to get plants.
The gladioli, dahlias, and foxgloves have been going strong. Even in the heat of July, the foxgloves have been blooming again after I deadheaded the original blooms. The lupine I planted was being eaten by a rabbit, but I put down some Rabbit Scram and they’ve been getting taller each day. I added in Snow Cap Daisies that have already had their show for the season, New Vintage Violet Yarrow, Indian Feather Whirling Butterflies currently being eaten by loads of caterpillars, David Garden Phlox, Blazing Sunset, Double Scoop Bubble Gum Echinacea and White Sumbrero Echinacea, and Hummelo. I didn’t love the extra investment, but I sure am loving the more immediate results the plants have given. Gardening always requires patience, as most plants don’t grow to your vision for a few years, but many of the seed packets said I wouldn’t even get any blooms until next year!
The colors have come together quite nicely. I mulched last week, and I’m always impressed with how that really pulls everything together. We had an exciting call from our landscaper that our plants were in for the front of the house the day before the 4th of July. We spent the holiday strategically placing and digging holes. We still have more to dig 63 total! and I can’t wait to finish and share that landscaping feat soon.

So lovely! #goals
I’m having a hard time getting anything to stay alive. If it does live, it doesn’t bloom well. But, I do occasionally have some knock out rose blooms. So, I mostly I clip green leaf stems to bring inside. Which I need to do. My vases are bare.
I LOVE that you are creating a space you can fully enjoy and that enhances your lifestyle. That is what it’s all about!

Greenery is great too! Do your plants get enough sun and water? And do you fertilize them once in a while? Thanks so much, yes, it makes me happy!
